My Response to Dumb Arm Chair Social Critics about Race..who talk so much shit on message boards but would'nt dare come talk all that shit in my face.

I wrote this in anger about another online forum after a news article that reported about race. A couple of prefaces

1) I dont hate ANY white people, I just abhor the racist repugnant ones who don't think and who refuse to have an substantive engagement about race and its implications in America and
2) This is/was HIGHLY sarcastic and satrical.
3)

I love white folks and for a couple of reasons, MOST of you are just alike. At least I know that yes there are some Black people that do things that are plain and simple just not right, however a VAST majority of Black people are hardworking, decent, civilized, educated, and even well-spoken. Despite the fact that most of you are racist, and always complaining about somebody else other than yourself, who would rather see the genocide of people of African descent.

1) You all constantly whine and moan about Black people and all of the short comings of the Black community but like most Americans you are in that percentage of the population (a majority of the nation) that controls less than 1% of the nation’s wealth.

2) You pay darn near $5 a gallon for gas and milk too just like Black people but don't have any harsh or quite justifiably racist opinions about the people who are responsible for that.

3)You all have a complete failure of understanding when it comes to the nature of race in this country, i.e. the fact that there are no biological differences or distinctions between "racial" groups, hence the fact that race is a social construction - CONSTRUCTED by guess who? Whites. There is more diversity in the genetic material of two people of African descent than a person of African descent and a white person.

4) You all have the worst case of historical amnesia in the world. Every other "civilized" western nation that had a role in the African slave trade which was responsible for the displacement and murder of an estimated 100 million people has acknowledged and at least made a half-a## attempt to confront it's role in the African slave trade BUT the United States. (Yes, I know Africans had slaves too...But they did not create a system, which bounded individuals and there offspring for life into slavery).

5) You consistently fail to understand the fact that a white man with a felony conviction has a much better chance of getting a job than a Black man with no criminal record whatsoever.

6) You refuse to acknowledge that the historical underpinnings of this nation rest on the exploitation of people of African descent and those indigenous to this land. There is not one point in American history where there are not striking disparities in numerous quality of life indicators between those white and black, despite the fact that we live in such an "equal" society.

AND THESE ARE A FEW OF MY FAVORITE REASONS WHY…MOST WHITE PEOPLE ARE DEMONIC, IMMORAL, RACIST, SATANIC AND REPUGNANT.

Black in America - the CNN special

Like many I look forward to tonight's program. However, unlike many when I read any story related to race in this nation in our media, particularly online I like to read the comments. Which are typically filled with some of the most racist banter you will ever encounter...So I pose the question will a 4 hour documentary special "Black in America" really change the perceptions of people of African decent?

My answer is no. But I'm curious for your commentary...

Homophobia...in the hood.

You know, I always try not to beat up on Black folks. But today I need to take a couple metaphorical punches at Homophobia in the hood. It's not that white, brown, yellow, red, orange people are more gay-friendly. It's definietly not that at all, rather I live in the Black community, I am Black. So I see what I see. Even though last night on the bus I saw some Lesbian lovin on the bus. To the sisters on the 115/Pullman bus last night...This one's for you.

So today, I'm getting my haircut. Important place in the black community = the barbershop. (for those of you who don't know). And this brother that does his thing selling kicks and jeans out of the shop is talking about this girl who my barber and this guy knows and he said "You know your girl has a girl" and so my barber goes on his tirade about Faggots etc.

I was more than a little annoyed. However, if this was not the nigga cutting my hair. I would have gone off or read him especially while I was in a place of business in which I give my money. I did not though. I like the hundreds of others who live in communities because of our safety and that of our families I could not speak out. I wish that people who are heterosexual who continuously bitch and moan about how queer folks have an "unnecessary anxiety in certain settings" could understand what it's like to have a core part of you under attack and you can't do much about it...

Peace

Public Transit

I am not embarrassed to say this but I use public transit. In fact, I don't have a driver's license and only until recently with the prospects of a new job that would require me transporting materials and things to various places around the city, have I thought about a license.

I also am a tree hugging hippy (minus vegetarianism - that shit is for losers) . Who does not like $4.30 gas prices and carbon emissions.

However, there are always disturbing things about public transit...

1) Bad ass kids - Last night on my way to see a friend there was a group of adolescents on the bus the youngest being possibly 12 and the oldest no more than 17. The first disturbing moment with the kids was the fact that these kids were loud as hell. Do these children have hearing problems or auditory processing disorders - I'm loud as hell too at times but on the bus, ummm. No. Next problem. Rolling a blunt on the bus. So I don't know how many of you all know about Blair Holt, this young man was 16 years old and died on the CTA saving his friends from the bullets that killed him. Even before his death the CTA had cameras on most of its buses and now after his death there is not a bus in the city that does not have a camera. I'm not the one to say that kids should not be smoking reefer...well they really should not. However, rolling your blunt and talking about where you're going to smoke it at on the bus is not cute either.

2) The Buses in the white community are much more efficient, clean and dependable than in the black community. Nothing makes me feel blacker than waiting on a dirty stankin ass bus on the south-side of Chicago. It's a rites of passage. I always want to complain but then I realize there's no point in that its not like it will get any better.

3) You're constantly subjected to other peoples politics, body odors and dumbassness in close quarters. So I'm on my way home after seeing my friend and it's bad enough as I'm walking down 79th street some dumbass almost kills me. I finally get on the train, then the bus. As I get on the bus the aroma of someone's high quality greenery enters my nostrils and everyone else's on the bus. That was problematic for a number of reasons that I decline to discuss on here. The other thing about this bus that at least 75 people were on board. So as I get closer to my house, I'm standing next to a gentleman and his friends. Apparently his daughter made him a bracelet with different color beads. One of his friends is like "Is that a rainbow? Cause you know what that means?" And this crazy ass woman goes into her whole homophobic ass tirade about the rainbow and what it means, and how if this guy keeps the bracelet he may get hit on by a swarm of gay dudes. I had to sit there and listen to this bullshit cause its not like this dumbass was intelligent enough to have a conversation with me about her homophobia and/or unless I wanted a south-side ass whoopin or shooting, I could not move anywhere else on the bus...

Other than that public transit is a great thing. You get around town without having to worry about parking, gas, no-driving ass people etc.

I HATE HOW WHITE FOLKS KEEP ASKING BLACK PPL ON TV

I HATE HOW WHITE FOLKS KEEP ASKING BLACK PPL ON TV...

"So How do you feel, especially as an African American about Barack Obama's victory?"

I propose that every black person say when asked this question by a honky(my derogatory term for dumbass white people)...

"Who? I don't know that nigga." or "What, well I think I'm voting for McCain"

Because of course no negro who says the truth...or thinks/says the following will not be interviewed.

"Well, this is historic. However, most white people will continue to harbor the same negative attitudes about Black people."

"That's great I'm really excited for my man Barack. However, does this victory mean that the day he accepts the nomination formally, the 1 in 5 black children living in poverty won't be"

"Hip Hip Hooray. Hip Hip Hooray. Hip Hip Hooray. Three Cheers for Senator Obama. Does this mean that Flavor of Love will go off the air by an Obama Executive Order?"

I'm not hating on Senator Obama, in fact I am really proud that he was able to achieve this fate. However, it does not signal the end of racism. He is an amazing man, let us not forget he was like in the history of all of the other men who are nominees and Presidents, was educated in the best schools in the world, and had access to an extremely powerful and well connected social network. I love how people make the Obama's out to be ordinary people. They by no means are ordinary. Are they closer to ordinary than McCain or Clinton will ever be - ABSOUTELY. But definietly not ordinary, average Americans. Ordinary, average Americans spouses typically are not Vice Presidents at great institutions like the University of Chicago Medical Center. Ordinary Average Americans do not have checking accounts with JPMorgan Chase's Private Equity Group. Nor do ordinary Americans go to Ivy League schools for both an undergraduate and professional school education - let alone marry someone else who does - let alone even go to college. I hate to break it to people its not like the Obama's are just "regular" people. There not. However, does Sen. Obama have what it takes to lead the nation, that is a clear and resounding YES...
YES WE CAN!

Distraction Attraction

This poem is dedicated to all the kids out there who have AD/HD and like me find sitting down for hours to "study" like spending time at Guantanamo Bay.

Distraction Attraction
Distraction attraction
am i attracted to distraction
distraction from homework
distraction from life
distraction from laundry
distraction from distraction
i have a hidden attraction to distraction
moving from place to place
within my soul, within my mind
distraction attraction
what is being?
what is meaning?
to philosophize - getting drunk and talking shit
to think to explore to ratify to exploit
distraction attraction
i have a problem with my attraction to distraction.
distraction attraction.
i have no morals
i have no values
but i do have an attraction to distraction.
i imitate the entire academy
i imitate studying
tangental thought
experiementation the essence of life
college = disaster
privilege = cheating life
pedagogy, pedagogical
care and concern
writing poetry in a fucking coffee shop
food justice rather food injustice
distraction attraction
one day some asshole is gonna read this shit thinking they can crack the "code" or interpret this
interpretation,
interpreting thoughts
a key to distraction atttraction
distraction attraction. just like a bill sitting on capital hill.
or a bill in my wallet waiting to be spent
i think the egg came before the chicken
i also think nature and nurturing work together
distraction attraction
random tangents conected by the dots or the lack thereof.
random bits and pieces
the randomness of distraction attraction.

Murder @ 11204

So I'm chillin today. At my grandma's house, on my sabbatical still, my cousin comes over and is like there is a crime scene outside. Apparently a 19 year old brother was killed in his own home. I do not know how many of you out there are are aware of the youth violence that is plaguing the city I call home. I for one am tired of these knucklehead ass negros killing each other. It does not make any sense. Grow up. Apparently my little brother hooped with this young man. 19 years old and dead. WTF? This violence does not make any sense.
